MutilateCrit

by WhiteWolf

compatible with patch: 2.0

FEATURES:

This addon totals the swings of your rogue ability "mutilate" (german client: "Verstümmeln") together and shows the total damage in a text frame or through SCT.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Currently only usable with german client !!!

ORIGIN:

This mod was originally created as DamnWindfury! by kneeki: http://wow.curse-gaming.com/en/files/.../damn-windfury-v1-8-1-de/

Thanks for your great work.

I only made it usable for rogue's mutilate ability.

COMMAND LIST: (/mc or /mutilatecrit): /mc - launch config. /mc help - show in-game help. /mc version - show mod version number. /mc on/off - toggle mod status, on or off. /mc reset - reset all mod values to default. /mc color - change the color of the alert frame.

MutilateCrit_v1.4_20070128.zip

- fixed an error that did not add the damage for each mutilate strike correctly - (hopefully) fixed the problem that caused the addon to show incorrect damage values when the target dies on first mutilate strike (need more testing) - some code improvements/enhanced event handler - version number corrected

MutilateCrit_v1.3_20070123.zip

- fixed the line 80 error (comparing string with number) thanks to Cilraaz

MutilateCrit_v1.2_20070110.zip

- TOC Update to 20003 - matches Client version 2.0.3

MutilateCrit_v1.1_20061223.zip

- major code cleaning, removed unnecessary stuff - improved mutilate detection - experimental implementation for english client support (yet untested) - added option for detailed output showing single damage values for each mutilate strike - for example: Mutilate 818 (509+309) - added option to save highest mutilate crit between sessions (yet not character dependent, perhaps in the next version ;-) - this is accessible with the command "/mc maxcrit"

MutilateCrit_v1.0_20061217.zip

- fixed a bug that caused the addon to stop working when your target has died by the first of the two mutilate hits

MutilateCrit_v1.0_20061216.zip

- initial release of MutilateCrit

Installation Guide

  1. Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
  2. Download the mod you want to install
    • Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
    • Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
    • If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
  3. Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
    • Windows
      • Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
      • WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
      • WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
    • Mac Users
      • StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
  4. Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
  5. Move to the Addon folder
    • Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
    • Go into the "Interface" folder.
    • Go into the "AddOns" folder.
    • In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
    • The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
    • Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
  6. Start World of Warcraft
  7. Make sure AddOns are installed
    • At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
    • If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
    • If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.

Translations

When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".

TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)

When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.

If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support

WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

As you all may have already noticed I don't have enough time right now to furhter develop this addon. I hope this will change within the next few weeks.

I want to thank everybody who has been involved in developing this addon, especially "Celostra" and "Perlox" for their support. And also thanx to everyone who has been (and still is) using this mod.

Note that this will NOT be the end of this mod, i just need a break. In the meantime:

Feel free to change this mod to whatever you like but please leave a link to the original MutilateCrit mod here.

Thanx. I'll be back, soon.

Hey Whitewolf!

When unzipping the file you should end up with a folder called "MutilateCrit" that contains 4 files:

MutilateCrit.toc MutilateCrit.lua Options.lua localization.lua

Just place this folder in your addons folder and it should work.

By the way, only german and english client are supported because my french is sooo bad. *g*

I played with a french client game but it isn't active. I'don't know why. Could it be because of the name that when it's dezip it's gave a very long name with numbers and all. If I change the name would it's active? The franch version when i dl them I don't have a file at the end but just a icon with no application.

I am aware of this problem. This is caused by blizzard combat text log entries. When your target dies by the first of the two mutilate strikes, your combat log will look like this:

Your mutilate hits <target> for XXX damage. <target> dies. Your mutilate hits <target> for XXX damage.

So when your target dies by the damage of just one of the two strikes the other strike hits your (already dead) target and won't be added up, because the damage counter is reset every time your target dies. I don't know if this is intended to be this way by blizzard. You can't damage a dead target, can you?

Right now I don't know how to fix that. I'm sorry.

I'm just glancing at the code while at work and have no way of testing the wild speculation below, but regarding the death on first mutilate hit issue...

When checking for (CHAT_MSG_COMBAT_HOSTILE_DEATH" and MCHitsCounter == 1), instead of calling MC_ResetOnTargetDeath() could you instead toggle a flag which would indicate the target has died, then modify the swing 2 else to check for this flag and handle the case appropriately? (e.g., MC_ResetOnTargetDeath after the 2nd swing calcs have been added, reset the ondeath flag)

I no longer experience the error from before, but sometimes the mutilate damage doesn't add up. It's odd. For instance, it'll show:

Mutilate 235 (500+235)

German Translation:

--GERMAN WORDS FOR EVENTS

WTEvent_Melee = "Ihr(.+). (%d+)." WTEvent_Hit = "Angriff des Windzorns von Euch(.+) (%d+)."; WTEvent_Crit = "Angriff des Windzorns(.+) kritisch: (%d+)."; WTEvent_Dodged = "(.+) ist Angriff des Windzorns ausgewichen."; WTEvent_Missed = "Angriff des Windzorns hat (.+) verfehlt."; WTEvent_Parried = "Angriff des Windzorns wurde von (.+) pariert."; WTEvent_Dies = "(.+) stirbt.";

WTWord_Windfury = "Windfury"; WTWord_Dodged = "AUSWEICHEN!"; WTWord_Parried = "PARIERT!"; WTWord_Misses = "VERFEHLT!";

Hi! Thanks for the great addon. I really like the BANG!-factor it adds.

There is just one problem: If you kill something with the first of the two mutilate-hits (so there won't be two hits by mutilate), parsing gets totally messed up. It will show either nothing or will pop up "Interface\AddOns\MutilateCrit\MutilateCrit.lua:80:attempt to compare number with string".

Thank you for the advice.

I did not get this message yet with my rogue, but I will keep an eye on it. Perhaps Blizzard changed some of the combat text log entries, so that the comparison fails in some cases.

I will try to fix it soon.

I also received the error:

Interface\AddOns\MutilateCrit\MutilateCrit.lua:80:attempt to compare number with string

I was able to fix this by changing the following:

line 47: Old: MCHitsTemp = damage1 New: MCHitsTemp = tonumber(damage1)

line 57: Old: MCHit2 = damage2 New: MCHit2 = tonumber(damage2)

Both of the damage variables were being pulled from a string.gmatch, inherently making them strings themselves. Using tonumber() converts them to a number and alleviates the comparison error.
